Gardens by Design of New England is a design, construction, and maintenance company serving residences in lower Fairfield County, Connecticut. Our design process begins with meeting the client and developing a comprehensive understanding of their needs, interests, and goals for their property and their life-style. Our goal with every client is to exceed their expectations. We do this by providing superior client service and delivering a high-quality product at a reasonable price. We are fully licensed and insured.

Our Philosophy

We believe in creating sustainable gardens by adhering to the "Right Plant Right Place” philosophy.  This means placing plants that are right for the soil, light conditions, and existing moisture content. This will increase both the likelihood of success and decrease the maintenance inputs required.

Ideally, a well-designed garden is the result of observing patterns in natural settings and re-creating those patterns in your garden. When possible and as appropriate to the site and to the client needs, we strive to increase the use of native plants. They provide a sense of place for our New England homes and towns. They encourage beneficial insects and invite native songbirds, hummingbirds, butterflies into our landscapes.  Using native plants also reduces the need for resources to maintain the landscape. We are committed to long-term relationships with our clients, business associates and our natural environment.

We offer you the option of landscape designers for small garden installations or landscape architect services for design and installation of larger and more comprehensive installations including terraces, walls, retaining walls, walkways, Belgian block edging and driveway aprons and other ‘hardscapes’.

As a company we have a keen interest in design, and delivering safe, and environmentally-friendly service. No chemicals, pesticides or herbicides are utilized, only organic products and fertilizers. Our gardens are non-toxic and child and pet-safe.
